It was a big event!

It was a big event!

My paintings are in a really cool new gallery in downtown San Diego… It is curated by Coronado local Chris Clements… It’s called the Machine Shop.

Pretty stoked to be a part of this place, as it is very well done in every way.  The Machine Shop’s neighbor is Dustin  who runs and operates Pure Concrete Studio.  Incredibly talented guy, making some bitchin stuff out of concrete.

The guys from Orange and Park showed up in full force as well, spreading their visual delights.  They are who I got the photos from, actually…

It is appointment only, unless you make an event night.  So give Chris a call 619 203 8538… It is a really unique space, and quite a fun adventure downtown San Diego to see it.

The Busby A Team is Off!

The Kurtis Kraft Aguila 500 and the Jim Khougaz Bonneville Roadster are enroute to Pebble Beach Councours D’Elegance today…  Jim Busby will be up tomorrow, as he as been asked to drive a car.  (I am sure it is a really cool car, and for some cool reason, but I will know more about it tonight!)

Franz Reichelt

I am not usually a morbid blogger, but this guy really has stuck in my mind the past few days, and for some reason I want to stick it on here.

Franz was a tailor in Paris, who sewed together this beauty, and proceeded to jump off the eiffel tower, thinking it would parachute him safely to the ground…  He tied his own knot, so I don’t feel sorry for him, but for some reason it is eerie.

I’m mostly just surprised that mustache didn’t do anything to protect him.

There is video of the whole thing, too… I will put that up also.

At the USS Hornet Museum.

This was the Airstream used to re-acclimate the Astronauts to the Earth when they returned from the moon… For a while it was forgotten in history, swallowed up in the giant sea monster that is our government.

You can see the airstream at the USS Hornet Museum

Fernando Agerre found these fantastically carved, antique funeral Cadillac cars with a wooden body while exploring an old barn in Argentina.
The hearse and the car for the flowers were found in a shed with another old hearse. Initially it was 1942 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 Special four-door sedan, each with 133-inch wheelbase and powered V8. They were then converted into upscale hearses by an obscure builder named Hermida Nazzi. Don’t know how much of this is truth but that name, “Nazzi”, makes me wonder. During the 1950’s a lot of fugitives from Nazi Germany fled to Argentina.

Wow. I sure hope somebody made money off of this, because this is a huge amount of effort…  Watch the whole thing, it is very clever.

Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

In the words of my godmother… ‘Don’t say you weren’t forewarned.’

These are so cool!  I like that London saved them and are keeping them in tact.  If you have never travelled via London Tube, it is the only way to go.

Work at the station has recently uncovered these amazing advertising posters in non-public areas and that date from c1956 - 1959 when the station’s lifts were removed and replaced by escalators. These are in an old lift passageway and will be safe.

We will be leaving these intact - and please do not pester the station staff as the posters are wholly inaccessible - which is why they’ve probably survived 50 odd years!

The photos were taken officially - please do credit London Underground in any links.
